Location
With twenty hectares the Mango Bay Resort is the biggest resort on the island. It is a low-density resort covering one kilometer of rocky coastline and two small sand beaches. It is surrounded by a protected forest. The resort is a very quiet place for guests who seek seclusion and tranquility. It is situated on Ong Lang Beach on the island’s West coast offering stunning sunsets into the sea. From Duong Dong Town it takes about thirty minutes via a road over the hills to get there.
Highlights
The accommodation comprises rooms and bungalows of different style which have - as part of the philosophy behind the place - been built in a way that minimizes the environmental impact on its surroundings. The staff is very friendly and guests are welcomed by the healthy smiles of island-people. The resort offers a total of 25 rooms and bungalows of different types on its spacious premises. Many of them have been built in some distance from each other. There is a beautifully situated ocean front restaurant, which also has been built in an environmentally friendly way which is kept in contemporary design. It offers the view over the sea and specializes in a small selection of sea-food based, mainly western, dishes. Further, the restaurant has a good selection of international wines. Adjacent to the restaurant there is a small business center with internet access and a bookshelf for the guests to exchange their reading. The nearby beach bar is currently not being used, which does not really matter, as the restaurant serves as a perfect bar as well. The rooms and bungalows can be reached via the wide grassland. There are no pathways and at night the area is lightened by small lanterns only, but staff equipped with torches will accompany each single guest to the bungalow. The rooms and bungalows are built with natural materials and in different styles which are typical for specific housing backgrounds of the local people.
